EuroLeague is the premier club competition of European Basketball and is regarded as one of the best leagues in the sport. Founded in 1957 as the FIBA Champions Cup the competition rebranded in 2000, replacing the FIBA era with simply EuroLeague.
The EuroLeague is made up of 18 teams with each team playing 34 games during the regular season and a maximum of 41 games if the playoffs were to playout. The format of the league has each team play each other twice, once at home and once away in a double round robin league. This format added onto the clubs domestic matches make the EuroLeague an enduring test for players and is a reason why the League is seen as a benchmark alongside the NBA.
A large number of EuroLeague players transition over to the NBA and vice a versa. Most notably being 4x NBA Champion Manu Ginobili. His success in both leagues makes him only the second person to win both a EuroLeague and NBA title. This achievement along with many others has paved the way for current superstars who have recently transitioned over such as Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porziņģis and Bogdan Bogdanovic.
21 different teams have won the EuroLeague title, 13 of which have won the title more than once. Current Champions CSKA Moscow aim to clinch their 9th title for the 2020-21 season, which would put them only one behind Real Madrid as the most successful club in the competitions history. Notable league leaders such as Shane Larkin (Anadolu Efes), Nikola Mirotic (Barcelona) and Mike James (CSKA Moscow) aim to continue their 2019-20 form and put their club in the best position come playoff time.

The winners of each of the four playoff series advance to the Final Four, held at a predetermined site. The Final Four features two semifinals, a third place game, and the championship game, all on the same weekend.
Each team plays a maximum 41 games per season: 34 in the regular season, a maximum of 5 during the playoffs, and 2 in the Final Four.
