Academia Deportiva Cantolao is a Peruvian football club that competes in the top flight of football in Peru, Liga 1. Founded in 1981 the Callao based club more commonly known as El Delfin quickly established themselves as one of the premier youth academies for aspiring players. In their relatively short history the club has developed many players who have represented Peru and major European clubs. The clubs most notable graduate is former Bayern Munich and Chelsea forward Claudio Pizarro, one of the countries greatest players.
The club play their home matches at Estadio Miguel Grau, a 17,000 capacity stadium. A multi-use stadium owned by the Callao Regional Government and is home to several Liga 1 teams. The venue’s first match was between Sport Boys and Deportivo Pesquero on June 16th, 1996.
In 2015 the club took major strides domestically by reaching the final of the Copa Peru against Defensor La Bocana. A season later they were promoted to Liga 1 after clinching the 2016 Segunda Division with a 2-0 title play-off win against Sport Ancash.
