  • About

The PFL is an internationally renowned mixed martial arts organization founded in 2017. The organization was brought to life by venture capitalist Don Davis who acquired and restructured the World Series of Fighting promotion. It is the first major MMA organization in which the athletes compete in a league system instead of a year-round basis. In 2018 the PFL launched its inaugural event at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden bringing mass attention for the extravagant pay to their fighters. The event ended with each champion of the six weight classes winning a million dollars each.

Since the PFL’s inception the organization has grown dramatically, to the point of major acquisitions. This growth has been spurted on by collaborations with major stars like Ray Lewis, Marshawn Lynch and Wiz Khalifa. Along with innovative ideas such as their 2020 NFT launch and their 2022 partnership with Rival Games which allows fans to participate, compete and engage in eSports tournaments.

On November 20th, 2023 the PFL made its biggest move to date by acquiring major competitor Bellator MMA. The long rumored deal solidifies the PFL as the second largest MMA organization in the world. According to fight matrix, with this merger the PFL now has one of the largest and most formidable rosters available, boasting 36 fighters ranked in the top 15 across all weight classes of MMA. Dream match-ups like Pacheco vs. Cyborg and Neganou vs. Ferreira are all possible for 2024.

Several months after the acquisition the PFL announced the unprecedented ‘The Battle of Champions’ pay-per-view mega event. The February 24th card featured seven matchups between current and former PFL and Bellator champions. The pay-per-view was the first MMA event to be held in Saudi Arabia with the main event ending in a devastating 21 second knockout. The PFL event has brought new eyes to the sport of MMA.
